Building Skills | Increasing Reliability | Preparing for Adolescence Completed Puppy Foundations? Ready to keep progressing? Puppy Progression is a 6-week follow-on course for dogs from approximately 6 months old, designed to build on the foundations they have already learnt and take their training to the next level. At around this age, your puppy is starting to grow up. You may notice they’re becoming more independent, distractions are becoming more exciting and some of the skills that felt easy a few months ago suddenly need a little more work. That’s completely normal — and it’s a great time to keep training not to give up! Rather than just teaching more behaviours, Puppy Progression focuses on strengthening the skills your dog already has, introducing new challenges and helping them become more reliable around real-life distractions. 🐾 What will we work on? Proofing existing training around distractions Building a stronger recall Progressing loose lead walking Focus and engagement Impulse control and self-control Neutrality around dogs, people and the environment New and more advanced skills Applying training to more realistic, everyday situations 🌱 Preparing for the next stage Your dog is still young, but they’re beginning to approach adolescance AKA the teenage phase! As part of Puppy Progression, we’ll introduce you to some of the early changes you may start to notice as your puppy develops, helping you understand what’s happening and how to adapt your training as they grow. This isn’t about expecting your young dog to be perfect! It’s about continuing to build good habits, developing their skills and giving you the knowledge to support them through the next stage. 🌳 Taking training into real life Training shouldn’t only work in a familiar class environment!! Our Sessions will take place at Cei Meadows Dog Park and other local environments/walks that will give us the opportunity to gradually increase distractions and introduce more realistic training situations. We’ll work on skills that you can actually use in everyday life! 💬 Ongoing support Your support continues between classes too!
